Young people for a better world
The purpose of scouting is to raise children and young people — in the light of the Promise, the Law and the Fundamental Principles — as people of faith, loyal to their country and nation, honest and warm-hearted towards all people, of good character and constructive spirit within society, respectful and disciplined, self-sacrificing, serving the development of their community and environment, equipped with the practical skills they need, self-confident, ready to take responsibility, healthy and positive in outlook, loving and protecting nature and cultural heritage: good human beings and good citizens.

It consists of eight elements and produces results only when all of them are applied together.
Promise and Law
A standard of conduct the Scout accepts of their own free will.
Patrol System
Working together and sharing responsibility in small groups.
Progressive Scheme
A personal development programme; everyone advances at their own pace.
The Outdoors
The natural setting of the education: nature itself.
Learning by Doing
Knowledge is gained not by being told, but by being practised.
Symbolic Framework
A shared language built through uniform, badges, ceremonies and symbols.
Adult Support
The leader as a companion on the road rather than a director.
Community Service
Taking responsibility towards one’s surroundings and society.
Mottos
Each section has its own motto, summing up the responsibility of that age.

We are one great family
We are one great family: linked like the rings of an unbreakable chain, learning by doing as in a master–apprentice tradition, disciplined as a soldier, democratic as a parliamentarian, a master key that opens every door, a dove of peace, standing beside the oppressed and against the oppressor — people of values, educated in the heart of nature.

A school of wisdom for children and young people
Nature is our training centre. Within nature, bringing the natural qualities inside us to light and knowing how to use them matters greatly.
Nature heals not only the body; it heals the soul as well.
The gem within children and young people comes to light far more quickly in nature.
Duty, responsibility, sharing and good companions make that beauty stronger still.
